Fees
The lowest fees of any curated luxury auction marketplace
One premium for buyers, one commission for sellers, one refundable deposit that keeps everyone honest. That is the entire price list — and it is a fraction of what traditional houses and other marketplaces charge.
Buyer's premium
3%
Added to the hammer price and shown before you confirm any bid. The only fee a buyer ever pays — no membership fees, no hidden charges.
Seller commission
3%
Deducted from the hammer price when the sale completes. Expert review, marketing to our bidder base and escrow are all included.
Seller deposit warranty
€25,000
A refundable warranty held from every seller while they list with us. Returned in full when a seller leaves in good standing.
How that compares
| Fee | Auctium | Elsewhere |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer's premium | 3% — nothing else | traditional auction houses up to ~25%; other online marketplaces typically 9–12.5% |
| Seller commission | 3% — only when the object sells | traditional houses ~12.5% or more, plus photography, insurance and marketing charges |
| Listing or membership fees | None | common, monthly or per listing |
Competitor figures are indicative, based on published rate cards of traditional auction houses and comparable online marketplaces at the time of writing; always check their current terms.
A worked example
A watch sells at auction for €10,000.00. Here is exactly where the money goes.
| Line | Amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hammer price | €10,000.00 | |
| Buyer's premium (3%) | €300.00 | paid by the buyer |
| Buyer pays in total | €10,300.00 | into escrow, plus shipping |
| Seller commission (3%) | −€300.00 | deducted from hammer |
| Seller receives | €9,700.00 | plus the shipping cost, after the inspection window |
The €25,000 deposit is a warranty, not a fee.
It is held — never spent — while a seller lists with Auctium, and refunded in full when they close their account in good standing. If a piece ever proves not as described, the deposit is what makes our buyers whole without delay.
