Comics: what we accept

We select authentic comics and comic-related collectables with an expected value of €50 or more — you may combine related objects into one submission to reach the threshold. Every submission is reviewed by an Auctium comics expert before it can go live.

What we accept

• Albums and magazines, original artworks, sketches and prints, and comic-themed collectables such as figurines and statues.
• Objects related to a comic series or author that carry collectable value and are not widely available in retail.
• Authentic, legally produced items in good condition.
• A minimum expected value of €50 — check recent auction results and price guides such as Overstreet or BDM to gauge it.

The strongest candidates: first editions (especially 1920s–1960s), graded issues, complete series, limited editions, rare albums, original pages and portfolio prints, and pieces in French, Dutch, Italian, German, English, Spanish or Portuguese.

Condition grading

Grade conservatively using the standard scale — our experts check your grade against the photos:

• Mint — perfect; unread and untouched, no visible flaws.
• Near mint — almost perfect; sharp corners and an intact spine with at most minimal handling marks.
• Very fine — slight wear such as minor corner rubs or subtle spine creases; bright cover.
• Very good — light wear: small edge tears, mild creasing or slight fading; complete and structurally sound.
• Good — moderate wear, visible creases or small cover defects; no missing pages.
• Fair / poor — heavy wear to severe damage; must be described and photographed in full. Accepted only when rare and historically significant.

What we do not accept

• Reprints or re-editions available in retail under €50.
• Fakes, forgeries or unauthorised reproductions — including recent reprints with modern ISBNs or barcodes presented as vintage editions.
• Content related to the Third Reich, child abuse, or extreme sexual or violent material.
• Heavily damaged or incomplete objects, unless rare and historically significant.

Required details

The submission form guides you through the essentials — complete every field so collectors can find and assess your lot:

• Publisher — e.g. Casterman, Dupuis, Marvel.
• Series and issue number — the series title, issue and original title where it differs.
• Grade — your honest grade on the scale above, or a professional grade with the grading company named.
• Year of publication and condition.
• Description — edition and printing, language, binding, whether sets are complete, provenance and every flaw. For original art: artist, publication history, technique and size.

Photos

Upload at least 3 high-quality images on a neutral background, in natural light, without screenshots or stock images. Your set must show:

• Front and back covers and the spine, with edges visible.
• Every flaw — creases, tears, repairs — close-up.
• Signatures, certificates of authenticity and publisher or print information.
• For grouped submissions: one photo of everything together plus individual shots.

Proof of authenticity

For high-value or signed submissions, additional documentation is required:

• A certificate of authenticity for any signature on an object valued above €500.
• Provenance documents such as auction receipts or notarial deeds.
• A photo of the limited-edition certificate, the engraved number on a figure, or the numbered page of a book.

Our experts compare signatures against known examples and will tell you if further evidence is needed. Some mature-audience titles carry legal age restrictions — as the seller you are responsible for complying with them in your country and the buyer's, including age verification at delivery where required.

A description that sells

State publisher, series, issue, printing and year up front, then grade honestly with specific flaws. Collectors pay for certainty.
